Dear visitor,
you are probably asking yourself: “Why another cat community?” The Oriental Longhair (OLH) cats belong to the family of Siamese and Oriental cats, which includes Siamese, Balinese, Oriental Shorthairs, Oriental Longhairs and Seychelloise. Oriental Longhairs are still rare and largely unknown. We admire the Oriental Longhair breed and therefore have created this homepage to make these beautiful cats more widely known. We provide information about Oriental Longhairs, like breed profiles, breed standards and the various colors and patterns. We also have a section for available kittens and stud service. If you wish to join us we will gladly publish your pictures. We welcome both: OLH breeders and OLH cat lovers. As you can read in the OLH breed profiles, the OLH breed is still quite young: it is originated in the late 1970s, when breeders crossed the Oriental Shorthair with the Balinese. Even today, breeders still rely on the Oriental Shorthairs (OSH) from the pure short hair lines and on its variants (such as the OSH, which carry the semi-long hair gene).Because otherwise the gene pool would be too small and the inbreeding coefficient would become too high.
